Giants lose to Indians 7-1
Tempe, Ariz. – The Giants lost to the Indians tonight 7-1 at Scottsdale Stadium. Barry Zito started for the Giants and took the loss, throwing 6.0 innings with 5 strikeouts, while allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits. Jeremy Affeldt threw 1.0 inning while allowing 1 hit and Dan Runzler pitched a perfect 9th, striking out 1.
The Giants lone run came off a solo home run to left field from Miguel Tejada in the bottom of the 7th inning. Buster Posey finished the game going 1-for-2 with a single and a walk. Brandon Belt went 1-for-1 with a single.
Tomorrow, the Giants travel to Surprise Stadium to take on the Royals. The Giants will send LHP Madison Bumgarner (1-3, 4.76) to the hill to face RHP Vin Mazzaro (0-1, 5.84). First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. and can be heard at sfgiants.com.

Giants get blanked by Angels 8-0
Tempe, Ariz. – The Giants were blanked by the Angels 8-0 today at Tempe Diablo Stadium. Matt Cain threw 3.0 innings, but gave up 5 runs on 7 hits. Aubrey Huff finished the game 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and Buster Posey reached base in all three of his at-bats, going 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and a walk.
SF relievers Ramon Ramirez, Santiago Casilla and Marc Kroon combined to throw 3.0-scoreless innings. Cody Ross left the game in the 1st inning with a strained right calf after running in to catch a line drive by Alberto Callaspo.
Tomorrow, the Giants host the Cleveland Indians at Scottsdale Stadium. The Giants will send LHP Barry Zito (2-0, 2.30) to the hill to face LHP David Huff (1-1, 8.25) of the Indians. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Giants, Rockies get rained out
Scottsdale, Ariz. – Today’s game between the Giants and Rockies was canceled in the middle of the 3rd inning due to rain.
Tomorrow is the Giants first off day of the spring, with play resuming Wednesday, March 23 as the Giants will travel to Tempe Diablo to face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. RHP Matt Cain of the Giants (0-0, 0.00) will toe the rubber against RHP Ervin Santana (1-1, 3.65) of the Angels.
Giants drop both slit-squad games to A’s and Cubs
Scottsdale, Ariz. – In split squad action today the Giants dropped both contests, losing a 6-4 contest to the A’s at Scottsdale Stadium and then falling to the Cubs at Mesa by a 3-2 count in 10 innings.
In the home contest, SF plated 4 runs in the 8th after Aubrey Huff hit a 3-run homer, but it wasn’t enough to catch the A’s, who jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Madison Bumgarner started for the Giants and took the loss, tossing 2.0 innings while allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits. Dan Runzler entered in relief and proceeded to toss 3.0-scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts while allowing 1 hit.
Huff finished the game going 2-for-4 with a HR and 3 RBI. Cody Ross and Buster Posey both finished the day going 1-for-4 with a single apiece.
At Mesa, the Giants lost in extra innings as minor league pitcher Josh Banks allowed the game-winning run, giving up 2 hits and a walk. The Giants only mustered 5 hits, including an RBI single from Mike Fontenot in the 1st inning to put the Giants on the board. Pablo Sandoval went 1-for-4 and Eli Whiteside collected the only extra base hit for SF with a double.
Shane Loux started and went 3.2 innings while allowing 1 run on 2 hits. Casey Daigle allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings and Felix Romero tossed a scoreless 6th.
Tomorrow, the Giants host the Colorado Rockies at Scottsdale Stadium with RHP Tim Lincecum (3-0, 2.55) facing RHP Jason Hammel (1-0, 3.75).
Giants hit 3 solo homers; beat Royals 3-1
Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Giants defeated the Royals 3-1 today powered by three solo home runs from Cody Ross, Buster Posey and Aubrey Huff. Barry Zito earned the win for the Giants, tossing 6.0 innings while allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 4 walks. Ramon Ramirez, Jeremy Affeldt and Sergio Romo combined to throw 2.0-scoreless innings. Santiago Casilla earned the save, tossing a perfect 9th with a pair of strikeouts.
The Giants scored all 3 of their runs today off of solo home runs from Ross (2nd inning), Posey (4th) and Huff (6th). All three players finished the game going 1-for-3.
Tomorrow, the Giants have a pair of split-squad games. First, they will host the Oakland Athletics at Scottsdale Stadium as LHP Madison Bumgarner (1-2, 3.60) will face off against RHP Brandon McCarthy. Game time is 1:05 and can be heard on KNBR 680. In the second game, the Giants will travel to HoHoKam Park to take on the Cubs. The Giants will have RHP Shane Loux (1-0, 1.93) on the hill and he will opose RHP Randy Wells (1-1, 1.29). Game time is at 1:05.
Giants end 3-game win steak; lose to Dodgers 6-3
Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Giants lost to the Dodgers 6-3 today snapping their 3-game winning streak. Jeff Suppan started for the Giants and tossed 4.0 innings while allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. Ryan Vogelsong threw 3.0 innings with 3 Ks while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits to suffer the defeat. Javier Lopez pitched a scoreless 8th and Guillermo Mota gave up a pair of solo home runs in the 9th.
The Giants plated 2 runs in the 5th inning after centerfielder Matt Kemp lost a pop-up in the sun off the bat of Mike Fontenot, scoring a pair of runs. Fontenot finished the game going 1-for-4 with double and 2 RBI. Aaron Rowand and Travis Ishikawa both went 1-for-4 with a single and run scored. Ryan Rohlinger finished his day by going 2-for-3 with single, triple and RBI.
Tomorrow, the Giants host the Kansas City Royals at Scottsdale Stadium. SF will send LHP Barry Zito (1-0, 2.79) to the hill to face LHP Bruce Chen (1-0, 3.38) of the Royals. Game time is at 1:05 p.m. and can be heard on KNBR 680.
Giants blank Angels to collect their 17th spring victory
Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Giants beat the Angels 4-0 tonight in front of a sellout crowd of 11,622 at Scottsdale Stadium. Jonathan Sanchez (2-0, 1.23) earned the win for the Giants, tossing 6.0-scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts while only allowing 1 hit and 1 walk. Giants relievers Brian Wilson, Casey Daigle and Marc Kroon, combined to throw 3.0-scoreless frames.
The Giants scored 3 of their 4 runs in the 4th inning when Pablo Sandoval, Miguel Tejada and Pat Burrell all had run-scoring hits. Sandoval finished the game going 2-for-4 with a single, double and RBI. Tejada had a 1-for-3 night with single and RBI. Buster Posey went 1-for-2 with a single and a walk and Burrell went 1-for-3 with a double and RBI.
Tomorrow, the Giants will host the Los Angeles Dodgers at Scottsdale Stadium. SF will send RHP Jeff Suppan (1-1, 6.30) to the mound to face RHP Rubby De La Rosa (0-1, 3.00) of the Dodgers. Game time is at 1:05 p.m. and can be heard at sfgiants.com.
Giants win again; beat D’backs 5-4
Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Giants defeated the Diamondbacks tonight in front of a sold-out crowd of 12,472 at Salt River Fields. Madison Bumgarner started for the Giants, tossing 4.0 innings with 6 strikeouts while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks. Bumgarner’s only two mistakes were a pair of solo homers by Chris Young and Justin Upton in the first inning. Travis Ishikawa hit the game-winning double in the top of the 9th inning, scoring Emmanuel Burriss from first, giving the Giants 5-4 lead.
Giants end 5-game winning streak; lose to Brewers 12-8
Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Giants’ five-game winning streak came to an end today as they lost to the Brewers by a score of 12-8. Matt Cain looked sharp for the Giants, tossing 3.0-scoreless innings while allowing only 3 hits.
