Giants win again; beat D’backs 5-4

Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Giants defeated the Diamondbacks tonight in front of a sold-out crowd of 12,472 at Salt River Fields. Madison Bumgarner started for the Giants, tossing 4.0 innings with 6 strikeouts while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks. Bumgarner’s only two mistakes were a pair of solo homers by Chris Young and Justin Upton in the first inning. Travis Ishikawa hit the game-winning double in the top of the 9th inning, scoring Emmanuel Burriss from first, giving the Giants 5-4 lead.

Aubrey Huff had another great night at the plate, going deep for the 2nd-consecutive game. Huff finished the game going 2-for-4 with a double, HR and 2 RBI. Freddy Sanchez had a 2-for-4 night with HR and RBI. Miguel Tejada had a 2-hit night with a pair of singles.

Guillermo Moto and Sergio Romo each threw 1.0 inning with 2 strikeouts apiece while allowing 1 run, with Romo earning the win. Jeremy Affeldt tossed 1.0 inning with 1 K and 2 hits allowed. Felix Romero earned his 3rd save of the spring, tossing a perfect 9th with 2 punchouts.

Tomorrow, the Giants travel to Camelback Ranch to take on the Chicago White Sox. The Giants will send RHP Tim Lincecum (2-0, 2.92) to the hill to face Sox LHP Mark Buehrle (0-2, 7.88). Game time is at 1:05 p.m. and can be heard at sfgiants.com. (Written by Max Hollister)
