Giants have walk-off win vs. Dodgers

Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Giants came back in the bottom of the 9th inning with a walk-off single to beat the Dodgers 8-7 in front of a sell-out crowd of 12,081 at Scottsdale Stadium. SF was down 7-6 in the 9th before Thomas Neal on a Roman Colon wild-pitch that tied the game at 7 apiece. Ehire Adrianza came into the game as a pinch runner, stole second and later scored after Gary Brown’s game-winning RBI single.

Giants’ lefty Dan Runzler started the game, tossing 3.0 innings with 3 strikeouts while allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits. Guillermo Mota threw 2.0 innings with 3 strikeouts while allowing 1 run on 2 hits and Brian Wilson threw a perfect 6th with 1 punchout. Javier Lopez struggled today, throwing 1.0 inning, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits and 1 walk. Marc Kroon earned the win after throwing a perfect 9th with 1 strikeout.

The Dodgers scored in the first inning after Tony Gwynn Jr. scored on a James Loney single. The Giants plated 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st after back-to-back triples by Andres Torres and Freddy Sanchez and a sacrifice fly by Aubrey Huff.

The Dodgers tied the game 2-2 in the 2nd inning after a RBI single by Gwynn Jr., which scored Justin Sellers. LA made it 3-2 after Trayvon Robinson tripled and later scored on Rod Barajas’s sac fly.

Cody Ross put the Giants back on top in the 4th inning with his 2-run home run. Pat Burrell added 2 more runs with his 2-run clout in the 6th, which gave the Giants a 6-3 lead.

The Dodgers retook the lead in this back-and-forth game with a 4-run 7th, making the score 7-6. Andre Ethier had a bases-clearing, 3-run triple and was later knocked in on an Elian Herrera double. The Dodgers would lose the lead and the game after the Giants 9th inning comeback.

Tomorrow, the Giants travel to Surprise Stadium to take on the Texas Rangers. The Giants will send RHP Ryan Vogelsong to the mound to face RHP Tommy Hunter of the Rangers. Game time is at 1:05 p.m. and can be heard on KNBR 680.
