Tim Lincecum strikes out 7 in Giants win; Brian Wilson makes his spring debut

Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Giants defeated the Mariners 6-1 today at Scottsdale Stadium. Giants’ starter Tim Lincecum earned his first win of the spring, tossing 3.2-scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts while allowing 3 hits and 3 walks. Brian Wilson made his Spring Training debut today, tossing a 1-2-3 inning with 2 punchouts.

SF got on the board in the 2nd inning after Pablo Sandoval drove in Buster Posey, who drew a walk and moved to second base on a Cody Ross single. The Giants scored 3 more runs in the 3rd inning after Miguel Tejada drove in Mike Fontenot and Darren Ford with a 2-run triple to left-center. Tejada later scored after Aubrey Huff grounded out to second, giving the Giants a 4-0 lead. In the 5th, the Giants extended their lead by 2 more runs after Buster Posey hit a 2-run double that hit the top of the right field wall.

Tejada finished the day going 1-for-3 with a triple, 2 RBI and run scored and Posey had a 1-for-2 day with a double, run scored and 2 RBI. Pablo Sandoval and Huff each went 1-for-3 with a RBI. Fontenot finished his afternoon going 1-for-3 with a double and run scored.

Tomorrow, the Giants host the Texas Rangers at Scottsdale Stadium in a rematch of last year’s World Series. LHP Jonathan Sanchez will toe the rubber against RHP Alexi Ogando. Game time is 7:05 p.m. (6:05 p.m. PT) and will be aired on CSN Bay Area.
